Easter time!

We had such a busy time before the holidays preparing for Easter. We found out about all the special days leading up to Easter especially Holy Week. We did lots of drama, role play, art and DT to help us learn all about this important time.

We made gardens of Gethsemane...

We showed everyone how fantastic we are at singing in our Easter song show...

We took lots of care when we made our Easter story booklets and took them home so we could share the story with our families.

We also made cards, crosses and chocolate nests...

Surprisingly, just before we went home on the last day, we came back from lunch to find footprints from a special visitor. The Easter Bunny had been! He'd left us lots of clues which we followed and eventually found a basket full of treats. After waiting for 15 minutes, we had to send out a search party for Mr Kerton and his group who got rather lost... we were very happy when they joined the rest of the class at the finish so we could share the treats together!

The Three Little Pigs Science Investigation

At the end of our science work on materials we looked at the houses the pigs had made and which material was the strongest. We decided to build some houses for the pigs using the materials we had in school and at home to investigate whether they were strong enough to keep the wolf away.
After we had finished our building jobs, we tested the houses outside to see if we could blow them down. We had so much fun!

The end of our fantastic fairy tales unit!

Our last story before Easter was The Three Billy Goats Gruff. We used actions to help us tell the story before sequencing it.

Then we decided that we would like to make our own version so we changed some parts of it. Instead of three goats, we chose three blind mice and, across our bridge, we decided to have a valley full of cheese for the mice to eat. In groups we made models of our new characters and setting and presented our story to the rest of the class. We really enjoyed this!

When we knew our story really well, we had a go at writing them. The adults were all so impressed with our writing! What do you think?

Twitter Wolf!

Yesterday, Year 1 were so lucky because the missing wolf decided to talk to us. He found us on twitter and then followed us. We came up with lots of interesting questions to ask him and we found out that, although he is a really scary, sly wolf, he is also a bit soppy too!

After speaking to the wolf yesterday and finding out that he was too scared to come out of hiding, we were so shocked this morning when we found his footprints all over our tables in class. We think he might be visiting our class in the dark of night...

Wanted... Wolf!

Last week we got a letter from the Big Bad Wolf's mummy. She hadn't seen him for weeks and was so worried about him. She asked us to try and bring him back to her.

We decided to make some posters describing what he looks like to see if anyone could find him.

 Do you like our work?
